Test target: Toxoplasma gondii antibody

Appropriate sample types:

• Whole blood
• Plasma
• Serum

Minimum sample size: one drop (approximately 10μl)

Sensitivity (quantifies a test’s ability to identify true positives): 95.00%

Specificity (quantifies a test’s ability to identify true negatives): 100.00%

Results available: 5-10 minutes*

Clinical notes:

• Positive results should be further confirmed with PCR testing and/or other appropriate diagnostic methods.
• Positive results are not necessarily indicative of active infection – just previous exposure to the test target.
• Clinical signs should always be considered alongside test results when making a diagnosis.
• Haemolysed or contaminated samples may give erroneous results.
• Test may give a false positive result in animals treated with monoclonal antibodies specific to the test target.
