Easy-to-use, in-house test kit, providing rapid, accurate results to aid in the diagnosis of feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) and/or feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) in cats.

Test type: Immunochromatographic assay

Test target:

• Feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) antigen
• Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) antibody

Appropriate sample types:

• Whole blood
• Plasma
• Serum

Minimum sample size: one drop (approximately 10μl)

Sensitivity (quantifies a test’s ability to identify true positives):

• FeLV antigen: 97.78%
• FIV antibody: 96.88%

Specificity (quantifies a test’s ability to identify true negatives):

• FeLV antigen: 97.06%
• FIV antibody: 98.13%

Results available: 5-10 minutes*

Clinical notes:

• Positive results should be further confirmed with ELISA and/or PCR testing.
• Clinical signs should always be considered alongside test results when making a diagnosis.
• Haemolysed or contaminated samples may give erroneous results.
• Test may give a false positive result in animals that have received a live attenuated vaccination containing the test target within the 10 days prior to samples being collected.
• Test may give a false positive result in animals treated with monoclonal antibodies specific to the test target.
